*Excalibur*
The 1981 movie, off of Jonathan Blow’s recommendation, just watched, very good, I thought it would be incomprehensible plot and I’d need to keep the Wikipedia plot next to me, but no.
Often comic, some between version of purpose and not on purpose comic, but you can take the movie seriously and laugh at it at the same time without it losing impact on you.
And it helped that I really didn’t know Arthurian legend(s) well at all and this was the first full-fledged experience for me.
Love the snail’s pace battles happening at the start of the movie, people chasing each other by walking in the midst of battle.
The women are all either “bad” or barely exist though, sadly.
