Baltimore notes
From living and visiting between 2021-2025.
You will see cars with the bumper sticker “Baltimore: Actually, I like it.”
The blocks west and south of Patterson Park are enormously enjoyable, north too, and at times you see through alleys all the way down to the water. Federal Hill is also amazing.
Maybe I didn’t spend enough time there, but I never warmed to Hampden.
My cafe rotation: High Grounds in Highlandtown (dark, but looks kinda like an early demo of Tryst in DC) or OneDo, then Charmed Kitchen into the evening, and also Ministry of Brewing (bar, former church, open til 10pm, do whatever you want, lots of space). Bmore Licks is an open-late milkshake/ice cream place and everyone is happy there the whole day.
I think per capita I would not find as many friends in Baltimore as in other cities. I think my interests are somewhat more selfish and less camaraderie-ish.
My friend took me to the National Museum of Dentistry. No one around, everything mostly dim, at 1pm it felt like Night at the Museum. Perfect.
Thanks to Erin and Richard for hosting me all these years!
